Today's academic department has many facets.  These include resident  teaching, patient care, research, and community education.  As the economics of our institutions change we rely more and more on patient care to support our mission.  Such restructuring secondarily encroaches upon the other facets of our charter with the public and our patients.

Loss of things important makes the mind keen to what it previously enjoyed. While we have won the battle against many types of blindness there still are a number of areas where we need to advance our understanding, such as diabetic retinopathy, macular degeneration, glaucoma and corneal disease.  Active research to these ends is very important, but often the resources and clinicians must be delegated to other duties.

It is our goal to excel our past accomplishments, but doing so requires a partnership with our alumni and friends.  While some prefer to give toward the general endowment others may prefer to designate their gift to a specific endeavor.  Below is a list of areas to which people have given in the past.
